Renovations, Restorations and Heritage Reproductions

We specialize in training estimators, project managers and field supervisors to service our client's needs in special areas such as renovations, restorations and heritage reproductions.

We service a full spectrum of projects, such as retail and commercial tenant improvements and renovations to single family dwellings, schools, hospitals, condominiums and hotels.

Personal service and attention to detail are of paramount importance to us.

Mountain Equipment Coop

This outdoors sporting retailer occupies 15,000 sf of ground floor commercial space in The Vogue condominium on Government Street in Victoria.

The Fiori

A 20 unit condominium in Oak Bay has main floor retail.

The Vogue

Located at 1450 Government Street, we converted a "century old" timber frame warehouse and office building into loft condominiums and ground floor commercial space for Mountain Equipment Coop. Seismic upgrades included large concrete transfer beams in the basement in order to remove the center row of timber columns to allow a drive aisle for underground parking.

Delano Structural Retrofit

In order to structurally retrofit an existing parking garage in Kisilano, we designed and implemented a process to "glue" concrete beams to the underside of the existing suspended slab. This process won us our 2nd "Award of Excellence" for construction innovation.

Best Western Carleton Plaza Hotel

The left two-thirds of this photo is a new six-story reinforced concrete hotel clad using fibreglass reproductions of the terracotta cornice and window surrounds. The use of fibreglass material reduced the dead load of the building and reduced the foundation costs.

Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Center

This 1913 building was originally constructed as a mental institution. It was later converted to a correctional facility. In 1986 we were contracted by B.C. Building Corporation to demolish the complete internal structure while retaining the exterior façade, and build a new reinforced concrete structure within the existing walls. As well we restored the exterior masonry and sandstone facade.

Selkirk Tressle Conversion

This is one of five tressle restorations which we have constructed along the Galloping Goose Trail on southern Vancouver island. This linear trail is a restored rail right of way which runs from Sooke to Sidney.

Camosun College Young Building Restoration

This college building was originally constructed in 1913. The $8 m project involved removal of the complete brick and sandstone exterior, reinforced concrete shear wall and fibreglass wrap seismic upgrading, and reinstallation of the complete masonry cladding. The original sandstone is replaced with replicated manufactured cast stone, a more durable product than the original.

Masonic Hall

This is a fine example of a heritage renovation and restoration project taking many years to evolve. As funds become available, the owner has us perform restoration work both to the interior and exterior of the facility. A new roof and seismic upgrading has been completed, as well as a complete restoration to the main lodge room.

Food Services Building

Seismic Structural Work - We construct seismic upgrades and restoration work on many buildings throughout the province, such as the Food Services Building at the Royal Jubilee Hospital site in Victoria.

Pemberton Chapel

This interdenominational chapel at the Royal Jubliee Hospital site, was originally constructed in 1909. After construction of the Diagnostic and Treatment Facility, the chapel became "landlocked" and could no longer be accessed. All funding for this $500,000 "Link" building and chapel restoration was to be raised by the Nurses Alumni Association. We agreed to manage the construction and solicit funds from all subcontractors & suppliers who had worked for us on the many projects at the Hospital Site from 1999 to 2003. We and our trades contributed more than half of the cost, the remaining $310,000

Visitor Information Center

Located on Victoria's Inner Harbour, the Tourist Visitor information building was originally an Esso Gas Station and the terminal building for the Coho Ferry.
