History
Our construction company was started in the late 1930’s and was incorporated in 1951. We are now in the third generation of ownership.
We have a history of longterm employment for our staff. Over half of our employees have worked for us for 15 or more years and some as many as 40 years. This dedication from our employees forms a large part of our history and reflects on the mutual respect that both the employees and management have for each other.
We train our employees who wish to make a career in construction. We generally look from within our firm for the advancement of our employees. This is part of the corporate culture that we have created – training and advancing from within.
Working at Farmer Construction
We provide in house training for our employees. Some of our managers have held or currently hold positions on some of the following boards; Construction Labor Relations Association, British Columbia Construction Association, Construction Association of Victoria, Canadian Construction Association, and the BC Bid Depository Appeal Committee and the Public Construction Council of B.C.
We offer additional training through continuing studies programs that are offered at local post secondary institutions or industry sponsored training programs.
We support industry apprenticeship programs. Some of our carpenters have been awarded with provincial, national & international awards for their carpentry aptitude & skills.
We have in place site safety programs, including our own in house safety coordinator.
